Starbucks Expanding Pay-By-Phone To All Stores
Just days following unleashing the bladder-busting, 31-ounce "trenta" dimension on America, Starbucks has announced that customers of iPhones and Blackberries will be in a position to spend for their caffeine fix with their smartphones.
S'bucks tested the program in a handful of markets, such as NYC, throughout the last fifty percent of 2010. Now the java large is set to roll it out to all six,800 business-run stores and the 1,000+ Starbucks counters set up in various Target stores around the nation.
To use the spend-by-phone program, clients must obtain a free app to their iPhone (or iPod Touch) or suitable Blackberry (an Android edition is in the offing). The app successfully replaces the customer's plastic Starbucks Card, permitting them to spend by waving their phone's screen in front of a scanner.
The app also permits clients to monitor the amount accessible on their card and add money if required.
The question is: Does this actually make the procedure quicker than swiping a credit card or having to pay in money?
